Pulled over for a DUI in Kentucky?

  1. Stay calm and polite. The officer is just doing their job, and getting angry or argumentative will only make things worse.

  2. Do not argue with the officer. If the officer asks you questions, politely decline to answer them. You have the right to remain silent.

  3. Do not consent to any searches. The officer must have probable cause to search your car, and you do not have to consent to a search.

  4. Do not perform any field sobriety tests. These tests are notoriously unreliable, and you have the right to refuse them.

  5. Ask to speak to an attorney. You have the right to an attorney, and you should exercise that right as soon as possible.

If you are arrested for DUI, it is important to contact an experienced Kentucky criminal defense attorney as soon as possible. An attorney can help you understand your rights and options and can represent you in court.

Here are some additional tips that may help you avoid a DUI arrest:

  • Plan ahead. If you are going to be drinking, designate a sober driver or call a cab.

  • Eat before you drink. Food can slow down the absorption of alcohol into your bloodstream.

  • Pace yourself. Drink slowly and don't drink on an empty stomach.

  • Alternate alcoholic drinks with non-alcoholic drinks.

  • Don't drink and drive. It's not worth the risk.

If you are arrested for DUI, it is important to remember that you have rights. You have the right to remain silent, the right to an attorney, and the right to a fair trial. If you are arrested for DUI, contact an experienced Kentucky criminal defense attorney as soon as possible.
